With a coastline that borders both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, this small country is known for its beautiful beaches, volcanoes, cloud forests and biodiversity.
Five percent of the world’s biodiversity can be found within Costa Rica’s borders and great efforts have been made to preserve these rich resources, meaning a quarter of the land is protected. The people of Costa Rica, often referred to as ‘Ticos’ are a welcoming peace-loving community.

Approximately 1,633 meters high & conically shaped this volcano is one of the most famous in Costa Rica and is currently in a passive phase with minimal activity. Agriculture
Agriculture is immensely important to Costa Rica and plays a significant part in the local economy.
The two most important crops, coffee and bananas are exported throughout the world. Other important crops are pineapples, oranges, sugar and ornamental plants.
Beef and dairy also play a major part in the agricultural economy. The country is a major exporter of dairy to Central America, and though large-scale cattle ranching has declined over recent years, the country’s cattle industry continues to grow. Livestock farms employ approximately 12 percent of the Costa Rican workforce.
Our Hotels
To make the most of our tour in this Central American country most stays are for two or three nights making the tour as relaxed as possible whilst enjoying the finest opportunities for visits and sightseeing.
The exception is on the first and last night of the tour and both are at the same hotel in San Jose.
All hotels are of 4 or 5* standard and offer excellent facilities often in lush gardens and with a pool. Accommodation is in double rooms with ensuite facilities and air conditioning.
We have just returned home from the holiday of a lifetime: New Zealand with Bay Farm Tours! There wasn't a single hiccup, the tours with Mattey, the hotels, food, weather, the group we were in. Everyone was so nice, and our Tour Manager was absolutely first class. He was always on hand making sure everything and everyone was happy. We would like to thank you all so much for a beautiful memorable holiday.
